The bungalow is located a short walk from the center of bamburgh and a in a lovely quiet area. The property is dated and needs bringing into the 21st century. When we arrived there was a plumber trying to repair the boiler which heated the house and the water. He was not happy with the condition of the boiler and said it had not been serviced for a long time, slightly concerned at this point. He finally got the boiler to work but said it was a temporary fix and needed replacing. The kerosene from the boiler had leaked all over the floor and the smell was unbearable. We cleaned it and had all the windows open till midnight. We couldn’t use the kitchen or utility room for our stay as the smell was so bad. The bungalow was so hot as the boiler would not turn off!! It was not a relaxing few days and I was glad we were only there 3 nights. We did inform the owners, Host and Stay, and finally got £150 refund from £800 that we paid. It has taken them 2 months to agree to send us any compensation. My biggest concern was the fact that the boiler was in such bad condition and we had been able to rent this property when the correct maintenance had not been done.
