Well equipped cottage. Everything you needed for a weekend away. The kitchen had lots of utensils, pans etc. Living room comfortable. Bedrooms were both a good size with comfortable beds and great bedside lights. Enough plug sockets around, WiFi worked well throughout the house. Bathroom compact but again everything you needed. Easy communication with owners. Parking is on the street and spaces are few and far between. The pub up the road let's us park as long as we brought a drink or 2.
The living room and bedrooms were cosy and fine. To obtain the keys, we had to contact the management company, Host & Stay. Before they would give us the keys they wanted either a security deposit of £250 or to take out insurance of £25. We were going to opt for the security deposit but they then wanted to charge a £10 admin fee to return it. To my mind, this is totally wrong and I have never experienced this before and I have travelled all over, both in the UK and overseas, using holiday cottages. The next issue which was even more confusing is that there was no parking. When booking on booking.com, I filtered for parking and this property came up. If you read the small print, it says that there is street parking. If you saw the street then you would realise that this is not possible as the local residents struggle to park there themselves, let alone tourists. I called the owner who explained there was no parking and I also explained about the admin fee, to which his reply was that it was probably the management company's Terms and conditions. The shower filled up and the tap was very difficult to turn off properly. For me, the two biggest issues were the management company and parking. In terms of filters, to say there is street parking is ridiculous as wherever you go, there will always be street parking. This property should be advertised as having no parking as it does not . I spoke with the local residents and they advised that this issue has happened many times before so I am not the first to experience this problem. I do not like leaving negative reviews but really feel that this needs to be pointed out as neither the landlord, nor the management company seem to care.
